Our Story

Hamptons boogie was founded in 2024 by Dylan Henderson, a certified ocean rescue lifeguard. , We are a beach and bodyboard school that offers a camp-like experience teaching bodyboarding and ocean awareness to kids. We have a team of experienced instructors who are passionate about sharing their love for the ocean and helping others learn how they can enjoy it to the fullest.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, we have the perfect lesson for you.

Our School

With a focus on fun, our students will learn the basics of bodyboarding and will get to spend time at the beach with certified ocean lifeguards. Bodyboard training will include but is not limited to: wave selection, duck diving, ocean safety, surf etiquette, and on board maneuvers.

On flat days with no waves we will enjoy the snd and sun to the fullest with awesome beach games and activities. Days TOO BIG or nasty are a perfect time to learn more about the ocean and how to be safe in and around it.

Owner, Dylan Henderson has been a Certified Personal Trainer for the past 8 years and will lead the group in basic mobility and strength warmups to prepare the body to be agile and ready for anything in the water.

What is Bodyboarding?

Bodyboarding is the sport of riding waves in a laying (prone) position. Bodyboarding was said to be an ancient Polynesian form of wave riding that pre-dates stand up surfing. These wave riders used what was called a "Paipo" and was later coined as a "Bellyboard" after being brought to mainland America. In 1971 Tom Morey created the board that we now know and love, a modern version of what the ancient Polynesians were riding. He called them "Boogie Boards." Bodyboarding is named for the sport itself but in essence, there is no difference between the two.
